Survivors of Torture and Trauma Assistance and Rehabilitation Services (STTARS) assist and support individuals primarily from a refugee background who have experienced torture or trauma as a result of persecution, violence, war or unlawful imprisonment prior to their arrival in Australia. Services include counselling, mental health clinic, child & youth programs, education and training with other service providers.

With a commitment to human rights, social justice and a good understanding of refugee issues, the Chief Executive will lead STTARS to ensure the achievement mission and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead organisational operations and development
  • Ensure continuous improvement in high quality clinical services and support programs
  • Management, supervision, development, support and retention of staff
  • Provide advice and collaborate with the Board on strategic matters
  • Financial management and accountability
  • Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with stakeholders
Experience and Qualifications

This key role calls for an inclusive and contemporary leader with a dynamic approach to professional clinical service delivery in a culturally diverse community setting.  Proven leadership of a human services organisation, combined with effective communication and strong capability in stakeholder and employee engagement are key requirements.

Your experience working with, and understanding of the issues faced by people from disadvantaged groups, ie Refugees, Asylum Seekers, CALD, and Indigenous will be complemented by an approach of sound leadership together with strong financial and resource management. Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, social sciences or a related discipline are essential.
